Purple Rhombus Advances in DIU’s Project G.I.

Attritable UAS will go to end-users for additional operational experimentation

TEXAS (November 24, 2025) – Purple Rhombus, Inc. announced today that it has been selected by the Defense Innovation Unit (DIU) to advance to Phase III in Project G.I., Design Reference Mission 2 (DRM2), a prize challenge focused on accelerating kill chains for small, expeditionary units operating in denied environments.

Purple Rhombus was one of six competitively selected companies (and one of the three aircraft vendors) chosen based on demonstrated field performance, technical maturity, and alignment with operational needs identified by warfighters. The selected companies will advance to the next phase of evaluation, where their systems will undergo additional assessment by end users to validate mission effectiveness and transition potential.

“Being selected by DIU reflects the importance of delivering real field performance, rapid mission flexibility, and scalable manufacturing capacity,” said David Slaydon, Chief Growth Officer at Purple Rhombus. “We look forward to continuing work with DIU and operational users as they evaluate systems designed for the toughest environments.”

Project G.I. directly supports the Department of War’s focus on accelerating innovation and connecting manufacturers with warfighters to improve operational effectiveness for disaggregated formations in contested environments.
